Ben Mena is an artist based in Jackson, Mississippi, and is represented by View Gallery.
From a young age, he was captivated by art—whether through the enchanting illustrations of the children's books his mother would read to him, or the vibrant colors of the Mississippi countryside, where he grew up, a desire to tell stories through oil paint was born. He paints to do just that—to spark wonder and appreciation for the beauty in the world around us...

For Mena, art is a dive into another world. When he paints, he gazes at his own work with the same curiosity as anyone else. He wonders what the figures in his painting are thinking about, where they're going, or what makes them excited to wake up each morning... He wonders how old those trees are, or what adventure that boat was just on. He paints to spark curiosity, to inspire you to really look, instead of merely see—to itch that feeling you have to hold onto and to be a part of something bigger, something more meaningful, something deeper than words can quite grasp.
"Each painting cradles a moment that has been frozen in oil and pigment, a moment that you and I get to step into—get lost in."

At the core, however, to Ben Mena it is an imitation of the splendor of God that is behind every beautiful thing, about a Creator that he sees in the entire universe around him. He hopes his art will convey to you the immeasurable beauty of the heart of that Creator.
"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
